Raleigh, N.C. – Dry, sunny conditions are setting in across central North Carolina today, bringing high temperatures in the 80s and breezy winds that could affect outdoor plans and road visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, high pressure will build in behind a cold front that shifted south of the region early Sunday morning. This shift clears the way for mostly to partly sunny skies, with daytime highs ranging from the lower 80s in Roxboro and Sanford to upper 80s in Fayetteville and Clinton.

Westerly winds at 10 to 15 mph will accompany the warmth, creating slightly gusty conditions, especially in the Sandhills and Triangle areas. Drivers on I-40 and I-95 should be mindful of crosswinds, particularly during the late morning and afternoon.

While the weather will remain dry, it’s a good idea to stay hydrated and limit prolonged sun exposure during peak afternoon heat. Sunday’s calm pattern follows a cooler stretch last week and marks a return to more seasonable May warmth.

Conditions are expected to remain stable through the evening, with no watches or warnings currently in effect. Updates will be issued if fire danger or air quality concerns develop.
