Great Falls, Mont. – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect across portions of central Montana this morning, with accumulating snow expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Great Falls, snow totals of 2 to 4 inches are forecast, with isolated areas seeing up to 6 inches. The advisory covers Judith Basin County and Judith Gap, Fergus County below 4,500 feet, and the Little Belt, Highwood, Snowy, and Judith Mountains.
Communities impacted include Lewistown, Stanford, Hobson, Neihart, and Kings Hill Pass, among others.
The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. MDT Thursday, with the greatest impacts expected during the early morning hours.
Forecasters warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous as snow accumulates. Drivers are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time.
While snowfall amounts are relatively light, the timing during the morning commute could increase travel risks across the region.
Conditions are expected to improve later this morning as snowfall tapers off and temperatures stabilize.
The early timing may affect commuters, students, and ranch operations, particularly in areas with higher snowfall totals.
