Springfield, Mo. – Central Missouri communities including Rolla and Osage Beach are under flash flood warnings this morning, with several low-water crossings impassable and dangerous flooding expected through at least 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, between 3 and 7 inches of rain have already fallen in Miller County, with rainfall rates reaching 2 to 4 inches per hour. Additional downpours of up to 5 inches are possible across Phelps, Dent, Pulaski, and Maries counties, where flash flooding is either ongoing or imminent.

Roads near Osage Beach, Tuscumbia, and Iberia are experiencing high water, and several low-water crossings—such as Saline Creek at Square Line Road and Atwell Creek at Highway K—are likely flooded. In the Rolla and St. James areas, localized creeks like Crooked Creek and the Meramec River are rising rapidly. Drivers are urged to avoid low-lying areas and never cross flooded roadways.

Residents in affected zones should move to higher ground immediately. Power outages and debris may further complicate travel in rural areas. This event mirrors similar summer flooding seen in 2021 across the Ozarks.

Flash flood warnings remain in effect until late Sunday morning, and further advisories may be issued as rain persists across the region.
