St. Louis, Missouri – Missouri’s brief cooldown will flip fast, with temperatures climbing nearly 30 degrees in just two days and storm chances increasing by early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, highs rebound from the low 50s Saturday morning into the low 60s by afternoon, then surge into the mid-70s Sunday. By Monday, much of the state—including St. Louis, Columbia, and Jefferson City—will reach the mid to upper 80s, marking a quick return to above-normal warmth.

The warming trend will be felt statewide, with metro areas along I-70 and I-44 seeing the fastest climb. Springfield and Rolla push into the 80s by Monday afternoon, while eastern Missouri, including areas along I-55, tracks similar highs under partly cloudy skies.

Rain chances begin to build late Sunday and increase through Tuesday as the next cold front approaches. Storm coverage remains scattered at first, with a 15 to 30 percent chance of thunderstorms expanding across central and eastern Missouri by Monday night into Tuesday.

Residents should prepare for shifting conditions, including brief downpours and lightning, especially during the evening commute early next week.

Warmer temperatures hold into early next week before the approaching front brings a better chance for widespread rain and possible advisories by Tuesday night.
