Springfield, MO – Light snow flurries are brushing across Springfield this morning, affecting early commutes and travelers along U.S. 63. While snow accumulation remains minimal, roads could be slick during the morning rush. Drivers should exercise caution, especially in shaded areas or on bridges where ice can form first.

According to the National Weather Service, this morning’s flurries are expected to taper off by late morning, giving way to mostly cloudy skies and a high of 39°F. A warming trend will begin Tuesday, with highs reaching 41°F under sunny skies. Wednesday promises the warmest day of the week, with a high near 56°F. A cold front on Thursday will sharply drop temperatures to a high of 37°F, followed by a sunny but chilly Friday near 41°F.

Nighttime temperatures will range from 18°F Monday night to a low of 26°F Wednesday night. Wind chill values may dip into the teens on Monday and Tuesday nights, so residents are advised to dress in layers when heading outdoors.

Motorists traveling U.S. 63 and other roadways should check MODOT’s road conditions map at traveler.modot.org for updates on possible icy patches. By midweek, dry conditions will make for improved travel.

Stay weather-aware throughout the week as conditions fluctuate. Warm up midweek, but be prepared for colder air returning Thursday.
