Jackson, Mississippi – A noticeable late-winter warm-up is taking shape across Mississippi, with temperatures trending well above seasonal averages and delivering a stretch that feels more like early spring. The milder pattern is expected to improve travel conditions, support outdoor plans, and ease heating demand across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the Feb. 9–15 outlook favors above-normal temperatures statewide, with the strongest signal centered over the Lower Mississippi Valley. Much of Mississippi falls into a likely-above-normal category through the middle of February.

In central Mississippi, including Jackson, Clinton, and Pearl, afternoon highs are expected to climb into the upper 50s and 60s on multiple days, providing comfortable daytime conditions. North Mississippi, including Tupelo and Oxford, will also see a steady warming trend, though nights may still bring a noticeable chill.

South Mississippi, including Hattiesburg, Gulfport, and the Pine Belt region, may experience the warmest conditions, with several afternoons feeling distinctly springlike for February.

Despite the temperature rebound, the pattern remains dry. No organized rain systems are evident during this stretch, keeping flooding concerns low but also limiting soil moisture recovery.

While cooler nights will persist, the overall signal points to a quiet and mild period. Additional outlooks will determine whether the warmth holds deeper into February or if cooler air returns later in the month.
