JACKSON, Miss. – A calm, starry dawn greets central Mississippi this morning, with just a trace of chill clinging to open fields and parked cars. After several crisp starts earlier this week, the state heads into a stretch of unseasonably warm, steady sunshine—ideal for travel, cleanup, and early holiday decorating before showers creep back in late Sunday or Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, Thursday will bring highs near 76°F under mostly sunny skies. Winds remain light and variable through the afternoon, giving the state a rare calm window in mid-November. By Friday and Saturday, daytime temperatures push near 80°F, roughly 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. The warm spell will linger just long enough to remind residents that winter is still waiting in the wings.

Clear skies will dominate through Saturday, but models show a weak system building over the Southern Plains and edging into Mississippi by Sunday night. Scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms could develop along I-55 and I-20, with rain chances near 30 to 40 percent through early Monday.

Drivers should watch for slick spots early Monday as humidity rises and light rain mixes with fallen leaves on roadways. For now, though, it’s a welcome break from November’s typical chill—mild, bright, and perfect for outdoor plans across the Jackson metro.

The fading G4 solar storm that illuminated Northern Lights as far south as Alabama earlier this week has mostly subsided, but minor communication glitches may persist today. After that, all eyes turn to next week’s pattern shifts as Thanksgiving travel season nears.
