Jackson, Mississippi – A frontal boundary settling into Mississippi will bring cloudy skies and scattered light showers across the region Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, increasing moisture along the front will support isolated to scattered light showers throughout the day. While rainfall will be hit-or-miss, cloud cover is expected to be widespread across much of central and southern Mississippi.
Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to range from the upper 50s in northern areas to the upper 60s and lower 70s farther south. Despite the clouds and rain chances, temperatures will remain above normal for late December.
Forecasters noted that rain coverage will remain generally light, with no severe weather expected. Some locations may stay dry for much of the day, while others see brief showers pass through.
Cities including Jackson, Vicksburg, Meridian, Hattiesburg, and Natchez are all expected to see mild temperatures under mostly cloudy conditions. Winds are forecast to remain light, limiting additional weather impacts.
The National Weather Service emphasized that today’s weather pattern is driven by the stalled frontal boundary and increased low-level moisture, not by a strong storm system.
For commuters and outdoor plans, occasional light rain could create damp roadways, but widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for updates, especially if planning outdoor activities later today.
