Jackson, MS – Drivers across central Mississippi woke up to thick fog blanketing roadways Tuesday morning, reducing visibility and slowing commutes along Interstate 55 and Highway 49. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 10 a.m. CDT, urging motorists to reduce speed, use low beams, and allow extra time for travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, skies will gradually clear later today as sunshine returns and temperatures climb to near 88°F. Calm winds will shift northwest by afternoon, helping disperse the remaining fog.

Wednesday brings a preview of true fall comfort—mostly sunny skies, a high near 85°F, and light northeast winds up to 15 mph. By Thursday, October 9, expect bright, crisp sunshine with highs around 82°F, perfect for outdoor plans or early Halloween decorating.

The week ends with mild, dry conditions. Friday’s high near 81°F and mostly clear skies will offer excellent weather for local pumpkin patches, evening walks, or weekend markets.

Looking ahead, the weekend will stay pleasant with daytime highs in the mid-80s and cooler mornings near 60°F. No rain is expected through Columbus Day, making it one of the most stable stretches of early October weather for the Jackson metro.

Stay cautious during foggy commutes and enjoy the return of clear, fall skies later this week.
