Little Falls, MN – A powerful spring storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions to parts of central Minnesota starting Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday through 1 p.m. Wednesday for Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs, and Kanabec counties. Forecasters expect 5 to 7 inches of snow, with locally higher totals possible, especially in Todd and Douglas counties. Late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, freezing rain and sleet may mix with snow, potentially causing a thin glaze of ice on roads.
The storm is expected to severely impact both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and monitor updates on road conditions via 511mn.org or by calling 511.
The National Weather Service recommends keeping an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle. Snowfall rates may intensify during peak hours, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of slick roads, especially on untreated surfaces.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and stay informed as the storm develops through Wednesday.
