Minneapolis, MN – Hazy skies are expected to spread across the Twin Cities Monday as smoke from Canadian wildfires moves into the region, bringing potential air quality concerns through the night. Visibility may be reduced in some areas, and health officials warn sensitive groups, including children, older adults, and those with respiratory conditions, to limit time outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, the smoke will begin filtering in by late morning Monday, becoming more noticeable in the afternoon with southwest winds around 10 mph. The haze is expected to linger into Monday night, with only light wind shifts offering partial clearing by early Tuesday.

Residents planning outdoor activities should consider moving them to earlier in the day or shifting indoors. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency may issue an Air Quality Alert if particulate levels rise beyond healthy thresholds. Commuters could also notice reduced visibility during evening drive times.

Conditions are expected to improve Tuesday with sunny skies returning, but additional smoke incursions remain possible later in the week depending on wildfire activity to the north.
