Kentucky – Snow and bitter cold will continue to affect central Kentucky into Monday, with hazardous conditions forecast for much of the region. Drivers are urged to use caution, especially near untreated bridges and overpasses along I-65.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for central Kentucky until 7 p.m. Sunday, with 1-2 inches of snow expected in many areas. A Cold Weather Advisory begins Sunday evening and lasts through 1 p.m. Monday, with wind chills as low as -5°F to -15°F predicted.

Light snow is expected Sunday morning, with the heaviest rates between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Winds gusting up to 25 mph will reduce visibility and create slick roadways, particularly on major highways. Temperatures will plunge overnight, with a low of 6°F in Louisville.

On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, daytime highs will struggle to reach 18°F. Arctic air will dominate into midweek, with Tuesday morning lows near 4°F and wind chills dipping below zero.

Residents should limit outdoor exposure and check on neighbors, elderly family members, and pets. Ensure heating systems function properly and avoid using portable heaters unsafely.

Road conditions are expected to remain hazardous into Monday, especially east of I-65. For updates on Kentucky roads, visit GoKY.ky.gov.

Looking ahead, temperatures will moderate slightly by midweek, with sunny skies and highs reaching the upper 20s by Wednesday. However, another round of cold air may arrive late in the week.
