Lexington, KY – The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Frost Advisory in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Saturday, with temperatures expected to fall to around 35 degrees across east central Kentucky.

The advisory includes Franklin, Scott, Harrison, Woodford, Fayette, Bourbon, Nicholas, Jessamine, Clark, Garrard, and Madison counties, impacting cities such as Lexington, Frankfort, Richmond, Georgetown, and Winchester.

According to the NWS, overnight frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Residents are encouraged to cover plants, bring in hanging baskets, and avoid watering late in the evening, which can worsen frost effects.

While this is not a hard freeze, the expected frost could mark the first widespread cold spell of the season for central Kentucky. Valley and rural areas are expected to be the coldest, with temperatures hovering just above freezing by dawn.

Temperatures should moderate slightly later in the weekend, but Saturday morning’s chill may effectively end the growing season for unprotected plants across the region.
