Wichita, Kan. – Temperatures across Kansas will dip into the 40s tonight, with Wichita expected to bottom out near 49 degrees — a near record low for early September. Residents will wake up to a crisp morning Saturday before conditions quickly turn mild and dry for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, overnight lows could range from 46 in Great Bend and Russell to around 50 in Coffeyville and Harper. Saturday will bring sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s, while Sunday warms further into the low 80s.

The cool start to the weekend may have residents reaching for jackets during morning activities, but roads and utilities are expected to remain unaffected. Outdoor events across south-central Kansas, including in Hutchinson, Winfield, and Emporia, should benefit from the stretch of dry, comfortable weather.

The next weather concern comes late Monday evening into Monday night, when a few isolated storms could move into the region. While widespread severe weather is not expected, forecasters advise monitoring updates in case storm coverage expands.

More details on storm potential will be issued early next week, with current guidance pointing to only limited impacts.
