Wichita, KS – The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for central and south-central Kansas, with 1 to 4 inches of snow expected to fall between early Monday morning and Monday evening.
The advisory includes Butler, Sedgwick, Kingman, Reno, Rice, McPherson, Marion, and Saline Counties, covering major cities such as Wichita, Hutchinson, Salina, El Dorado, and Great Bend.
Forecasters expect snow to begin around 3 a.m. Monday, gradually spreading east through the morning. Roads may become slick during the morning commute, with continued impacts likely into the evening as light snow lingers.
The heaviest accumulations are expected north and west of Wichita, where 2–4 inches could fall, while areas farther south may see around an inch. Even light snow could cause reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions, especially during rush hours.
Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions before heading out. The Kansas 511 system provides live travel updates across affected counties.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST Monday.
