Wichita, KS – A stretch of warm, breezy weather will carry Kansas into the weekend before storm chances return late Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.

Forecasters said a few isolated showers and storms developed early Thursday morning across the Flint Hills but will clear out by mid-morning. Most of central, south-central, and southeast Kansas will see highs in the mid- to upper-80s under mostly sunny skies.

According to the NWS, Friday will remain breezy with highs ranging from 85 to 89 degrees. Saturday is expected to be slightly cooler and windier, with highs between 83 and 87 degrees. Winds could make for gusty conditions during outdoor activities.

By Sunday, conditions will shift as storm chances increase late in the day. Forecasters said temperatures will still climb into the low to mid-80s before showers and thunderstorms develop during the evening hours. Some storms could bring locally heavy rainfall.

Residents planning weekend events are encouraged to take advantage of the warm, dry weather through Saturday and keep an eye on updated forecasts as storm chances increase Sunday night.
