Indianapolis, Ind. – Clear skies and cool temperatures will dominate Indiana through the weekend as a dry air mass settles in behind Thursday’s cold front, giving residents a brief break before storms return early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, high pressure is now firmly in control across the state, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s through Sunday. Lows will dip into the 40s, especially in central and southern counties, with low humidity and light winds creating ideal outdoor conditions.

Cities like Bloomington, Lafayette, and Terre Haute can expect sunny skies and comfortable afternoons through Sunday. Northern areas, including South Bend and Fort Wayne, will see slightly cooler mornings but similar dry conditions.

Hoosiers are encouraged to enjoy the weekend outdoors but prepare for a change starting Monday. Moisture from the south will return, bringing increasing humidity and the chance for showers and thunderstorms. Rain is most likely Monday evening into Tuesday, with temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 70s.

The next advisory from the NWS is expected Sunday night as models sharpen on timing and severity of next week’s rain system. Storm chances increase statewide by Monday afternoon.
