Indianapolis, Ind. – Central Indiana will enjoy a stretch of cooler, calmer weather as skies clear this afternoon and temperatures dip below seasonal norms. Highs will hover in the upper 60s and lower 70s through the weekend, offering a fall-like preview for early September.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, morning clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies by Thursday afternoon. Friday will bring highs in the upper 70s to near 80 in some spots, but cooler air quickly returns by Saturday, when temperatures will top out in the low 70s with lows dipping into the upper 40s.
Residents across Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and surrounding counties can expect dry conditions, a welcome change after recent humidity. Outdoor events, from farmers markets in downtown Indianapolis to high school football games across the suburbs, should see comfortable weather with little chance for rain.
Travel across Interstates 65, 69, and 70 will remain smooth with no weather hazards expected. With clear nights ahead, Hoosiers may also want to prepare for brisk evenings, making jackets or light layers a smart choice.
Cooler-than-average weather is expected to last through the weekend, with dry skies holding until early next week. The National Weather Service says conditions remain stable, but further updates will be issued if changes develop.
