Indianapolis, Indiana – Isolated strong to marginally severe storms could sweep across Indiana this afternoon, with damaging wind gusts and downpours expected mainly between 3 and 11 p.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the greatest threat will target southern counties, including Bloomington, Vincennes, and Seymour, where wind gusts could exceed 50 mph. Scattered thunderstorms will track east-northeastward, bringing the potential for localized flooding due to torrential rainfall.

Communities south of I-70 are most at risk, with marginally severe wind conditions likely near the U.S. 41 and I-69 corridors. Indianapolis may see occasional showers, but the strongest activity is expected to remain farther south.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, stay off flooded roads, and monitor alerts from local emergency management. Power outages may occur if wind gusts damage lines or trees.

Today’s system follows a string of July storm days across the Ohio Valley. Although widespread severe weather is not anticipated, the isolated nature of these cells means rapid changes are possible.

Storm chances taper off late tonight, but additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
