Indianapolis, Ind. – Central Indiana will endure dangerous heat through the weekend as temperatures climb into the mid-90s with peak heat indices between 100 and 105 degrees. The hottest conditions are expected Saturday afternoon, with humidity making it feel even warmer.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, Saturday will bring highs between 89 and 95 degrees, followed by another sweltering day Sunday. Storm chances return Sunday, mainly north and northeast of Indianapolis, but forecasters caution that uncertainty remains about how widespread any rain will be.

The heat will be most intense during the afternoon hours, with limited overnight relief as lows stay in the upper 60s to mid-70s. Residents in cities such as Muncie, Lafayette, and Bloomington should take precautions, including avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heating and drinking plenty of water.

Those attending outdoor events or traveling this weekend should prepare for extreme heat and monitor for potential weather alerts. Storm activity late Sunday could bring brief cooling, but hot and humid conditions are likely to linger into early next week.
