Indianapolis, IN – Hoosiers will see the warmest stretch of the week today and Monday as temperatures rise into the mid to upper 80s across much of Indiana, according to the National Weather Service Indianapolis.
Forecasters say mostly sunny skies and light winds will allow daytime highs to climb from morning lows in the upper 50s to as warm as 88°F in central and southern parts of the state. Communities including Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Lafayette are all expected to top out in the upper 80s both days.
According to the National Weather Service, no rain is forecast during this period, offering dry and pleasant conditions for outdoor activities. A slight cool down is expected beginning Wednesday, with afternoon highs returning to near 80°F for the rest of the week. Overnight lows will trend cooler as well, settling back into the 50s by midweek.
Travelers and commuters should see smooth driving conditions thanks to the dry forecast, though unseasonably warm afternoon temperatures may lead to hot cars and rising energy use. The NWS reminds residents to stay hydrated and limit extended exposure during the peak heat of the afternoon.
This early autumn warm spell is expected to break midweek, leading into a more seasonable start to October across Indiana.
