The National Weather Service warns of lightning and brief downpours across much of the region, including Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and surrounding counties.
According to the National Weather Service Indianapolis office, storms may bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Commuters should use extra caution on interstates including I-65, I-69, and I-70, where wet conditions could cause delays and reduced visibility. Outdoor activities may also be disrupted as showers develop during the day.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms, especially between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by scattered storms later. High temperatures are expected near 81°F. Tuesday night brings a 50 percent chance of storms with lows around 65°F.
The unsettled weather continues into Wednesday, with a strong chance of showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall could be locally heavy, and lightning remains a hazard. Wednesday’s high will be around 75°F, cooling to 63°F at night.
Thursday may bring lingering showers in the afternoon before conditions begin to dry out. Highs will hover near the mid-70s. By Friday, chances of rain diminish, and more sunshine returns with highs around 77°F. The weekend looks more settled, with sunny skies and highs reaching near 80°F by Sunday, September 28.
