SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Central Illinois will heat up steadily through the end of the week, with highs reaching into the low 90s by Saturday. While the stretch will be hot, forecasters note humidity will stay lower compared to earlier this summer, making conditions a bit more tolerable.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, most of the region will remain dry, though a slight 15% chance of rain lingers late Saturday, primarily north of Interstate 72. Winds will shift from the east to the south through the period, adding to the warming trend.
Daytime highs Wednesday will sit in the mid-80s under partly cloudy skies. By Thursday, sunshine dominates with readings between 85 and 90. Friday climbs closer to 91 degrees, with only scattered clouds. The hottest day arrives Saturday, topping out near 94 in some towns.
Travelers and outdoor event planners should stay hydrated and take precautions against prolonged sun exposure. Those north of I-72 should also monitor late Saturday for any brief pop-up showers.
Hot and mostly dry weather will persist into early next week, with only limited chances for rainfall.
