Champaign, Ill. – Drivers across central Illinois may wake to patchy fog Friday morning, but conditions will quickly turn sunny and warm with afternoon highs in the low 80s. Calm winds and clear skies will dominate into the weekend, offering several days of ideal late-September weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, Friday’s early fog will burn off by 9 a.m., leaving behind bright sunshine and temperatures near 82. Saturday and Sunday will climb even higher, with both days expected to reach the upper 80s under cloudless skies. Winds will remain light and variable, shifting northwest on Saturday before turning northeast again on Sunday.

The stretch of warm, dry weather will continue into Monday, when Champaign and surrounding towns such as Urbana, Mahomet, and Tolono can expect highs near 88 degrees. Skies will stay mostly clear overnight, keeping temperatures comfortable in the upper 50s.

Travelers should be mindful of reduced visibility early Friday, but otherwise no major weather disruptions are expected through the start of next week. The next noticeable change arrives midweek, when temperatures dip closer to seasonal norms in the lower 80s.
