Champaign, IL – A cold front is set to bring cooler temperatures to central Illinois starting tonight, promising relief from the recent near-normal highs. The National Weather Service Central Illinois forecasts a significant shift in weather patterns through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, after near-normal temperatures today with highs reaching up to 82°F, a cold front will move through central Illinois tonight and early Friday morning. This front will usher in cooler temperatures and drier air, accompanied by breezy northwest winds at around 15 mph.

Friday’s temperatures are expected to drop, with highs ranging from 73°F to 78°F. The cooler trend continues into the weekend, with Saturday’s highs predicted to be between 73°F and 77°F, under mostly sunny skies. Sunday will see slightly warmer conditions, with temperatures ranging from 75°F to 79°F.

The early morning hours may bring patchy fog on Thursday, but otherwise, the forecast for the weekend remains dry and cool, offering a pleasant break from the summer heat. Residents can expect clear skies and comfortable weather, making it an ideal weekend for outdoor activities.
