SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms could develop across central Illinois this afternoon and evening, with chances lingering through Tuesday night. While storms will not impact every community, the National Weather Service says coverage will range between 30 to 50 percent.
According to the NWS Lincoln office, isolated showers are possible each day through early next week. Saturday and Sunday carry a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain, while Monday could see slightly higher coverage at 50 percent. Temperatures will remain seasonable, with highs near 80 to 90 degrees and overnight lows in the mid-60s.
Localized downpours and brief lightning will be the main hazards, though forecasters do not expect widespread severe weather. Residents are urged to remain alert if outdoor plans are scheduled, as storms may develop quickly and impact travel or events.
Rain chances ease by midweek, but unsettled conditions could return later in the week. More advisories are possible if storm coverage increases.
