Lincoln, IL – A calm and pleasant day is on tap for Central Illinois before a wet pattern moves in to start the workweek, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln. Sunday’s highs will reach the mid-50s, with light winds and clear skies keeping conditions ideal for outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service, the next chance for rain arrives Monday afternoon, with scattered showers developing across the region and continuing into the evening. Highs Monday will range from 55–60 degrees, followed by lows in the mid-40s to around 50.

Rain becomes more widespread on Tuesday, with storm chances climbing to around 80%. Temperatures will again top out in the mid-50s to mid-60s, but a strong push of colder air is expected behind the system. Rain tapers later in the day as winds shift and temperatures begin a steady decline.

By Wednesday, breezier and much colder air settles into Central Illinois. Highs will fall to the 40–45 degree range, and overnight lows will drop into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. Dry weather is expected, but the colder temperatures may be the most noticeable change of the week.

The chill deepens into Thursday, with highs only reaching the mid-30s to around 40 and morning lows in the low 20s, marking one of the coldest mornings of the month for many locations.

Residents heading into the holiday week should prepare for wet roads Monday and Tuesday and take note of the sharply colder temperatures midweek.
