Central Illinois Weather: Heat and Storms This Weekend

Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois is set to experience a mix of scattered thunderstorms and rising temperatures over the next few days, leading into a significant heatwave this weekend. The National Weather Service reports daily chances for isolated to scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons, through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast includes a 30-40% chance of thunderstorms with temperatures ranging from 81 to 87 degrees. Evening storms may occur eastward of I-55, with lows between 63 and 68 degrees. Friday’s weather will see a slight 20% chance of thunderstorms east of I-55, with highs from 83 to 88 degrees and nighttime temperatures from 66 to 71 degrees.

Saturday’s forecast predicts similar conditions with a slight chance of thunderstorms north of I-70. Highs will reach between 87 and 92 degrees, and lows will be from 71 to 75 degrees. As the weekend progresses, temperatures will increase significantly. Sunday and Monday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the 90s. Heat indices are expected to peak between 100 and 110 degrees, posing potential heat-related risks.
