Champaign, Ill. – Light rain could brush through Champaign Thursday morning, but skies will quickly clear, setting the stage for a sunny stretch into the holiday weekend. Temperatures will top out near 82 degrees by late afternoon as winds shift from southwest to west.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, Thursday’s showers should end by midday, leaving behind mostly sunny conditions through the evening. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-50s with calm winds, keeping Friday morning cool before a sunny rebound.

Friday brings highs near 78 under clear skies, while Saturday and Sunday will hover in the upper 70s and low 80s with plenty of sunshine. Outdoor plans for Labor Day look promising, with highs near 81 and no significant rain in sight. The next notable chance of showers doesn’t arrive until midweek.

Drivers may encounter brief wet pavement early Thursday, but no flooding or severe weather is expected. Residents planning cookouts or outdoor events for the weekend can expect ideal conditions.

Forecasts remain stable into next week, though another round of showers could develop by Wednesday.
