Lincoln, Ill. – After an early week snow event and a plunge into Arctic air, another chance for light snow returns to central Illinois by Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln.
Forecasters expect a slight chance (20–30%) of light snow or flurries Friday into Friday night as weak disturbances move through the region. Any accumulations are expected to be minor, likely under an inch, but could still lead to a few slick spots on untreated roads.
Temperatures will remain well below normal through the end of the week, with highs Friday ranging from the upper 20s to lower 30s and overnight lows dipping into the teens.
Before then, the region will endure its coldest stretch of the season—wind chills between -15°F and 5°F are expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The coldest readings will be north of I-72, while slightly milder conditions are expected south of I-70.
Travelers and commuters should continue to monitor updates for any Friday snow developments and prepare for ongoing icy conditions through the week.
