Meteorologists say gusty winds are likely today and Tuesday, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. A few light rain showers could develop tonight, mainly north of Interstate 72, before skies clear by midweek.
According to the forecast, Wednesday and Thursday will bring sunny, breezy, and seasonable conditions, with highs near 60 degrees and overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s in some areas. By Friday, another weather system could bring scattered rain chances back to the region, though widespread rainfall is not expected.
Forecasters note that while temperatures will stay near seasonal norms, cooler nights midweek may bring a crisp autumn feel to early morning hours across Springfield, Decatur, and Bloomington.
Residents should secure outdoor decorations and yard items due to strong gusts early in the week, and prepare for potential slick spots if light rain develops tonight.
