Springfield, IL – Central Illinois will enjoy an unseasonably warm and mostly dry stretch of weather through midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln. Temperatures are expected to climb well above average, with highs reaching the upper 60s to near 70°F by Wednesday.

Forecasters say Sunday began with patchy fog and chilly lows in the 30s, especially west of I-55, before clearing skies allowed temperatures to warm into the mid-50s. Sunshine continues Monday through Wednesday with less than a 10% chance of precipitation, providing a pleasant stretch for outdoor plans and travel.

By late Thursday, however, the weather pattern begins to shift as a cold front approaches, bringing the next notable chance of showers Thursday night into Friday. Ahead of the front, temperatures will remain mild — with highs near the mid-60s — before a gradual cool-down is expected into the weekend.

Meteorologists note that despite November’s arrival, temperatures will stay well above normal through much of the week, offering a brief reprieve from early-season chill before fall’s next cool front arrives.
