Champaign, Illinois – Afternoon storms could bring brief but intense downpours and lightning to parts of central Illinois starting Tuesday and continuing through the weekend. While severe weather isn’t expected, localized rainfall and thunderstorm activity may affect outdoor plans and travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, particularly after 1 p.m., with a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Similar patterns are expected daily through Sunday, with cloud-to-ground lightning and brief downpours as the primary hazards.

Tuesday:
Mostly sunny, then storms possible after 1 p.m. High near 83°F.

Wednesday:
Sunny and dry, high near 85°F.

Thursday:
Sunny, high near 88°F, with continued calm wind.

Friday:
Mostly sunny, high near 89°F.

Saturday–Sunday:
Daily storm chances return, especially in the afternoon hours, with highs in the upper 80s.

Although storm activity is expected to remain scattered and short-lived, residents should remain weather-aware. Storms may briefly impact outdoor events or driving conditions. No official spotter activation is anticipated tonight, but additional advisories may be issued later this week.
