Springfield, IL – Central and southeast Illinois residents can expect a stretch of warm, mostly dry weather this week, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln. A few isolated showers or sprinkles may develop west of Interstate 55 late Sunday night into early Monday morning, but conditions will quickly turn dry and mild across the region.

According to the NWS, temperatures will continue to run several degrees above normal, ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s through Tuesday before easing slightly into the mid-70s later in the week. Overnight lows are forecast to remain mild, generally in the upper 40s to upper 50s.

Forecasters say the dry trend should persist through much of the week, with partly to mostly sunny skies dominating the forecast. Any significant rain chances are expected to hold off until late in the week or next weekend.

The NWS advises residents to take advantage of the warm, dry spell for outdoor work and harvest operations but to remain mindful of elevated fire risk due to ongoing dryness.
