St. Louis, MO – The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Frost Advisory for much of central and southern Illinois, in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, as clear skies and calm winds allow temperatures to dip near 33°F overnight.

The advisory includes counties such as Adams, Pike, Brown, Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Fayette, Marion, Bond, Clinton, and Washington, covering cities like Quincy, Pittsfield, Vandalia, Litchfield, and Salem.

According to the National Weather Service, frost formation is likely and could harm or kill sensitive outdoor plants if left uncovered. Residents are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors, cover garden vegetation, and protect outdoor plumbing ahead of the cold snap.

Temperatures will rebound into the 50s by late morning Friday, ending the frost threat by midmorning as the sun returns.
