Lincoln, IL – Breezy south winds will give central Illinois a brief warm-up Monday before another cold front brings cooler, fall-like conditions through the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln.
High temperatures Monday will climb into the mid to upper 60s, with gusts from the south reaching 30–35 mph. A slight chance of showers exists late Monday night, mainly along the I-74 corridor, before skies clear Tuesday.
Behind the front, cooler and drier air will settle across the region, keeping highs in the 50s and low 60s for the remainder of the week. Overnight lows will drop into the 30s by midweek, with patchy frost possible Thursday morning, especially in rural and sheltered areas.
Forecasters say the pattern marks a return to more typical late-October weather, with clear skies and crisp mornings dominating through Thursday.
