Areas near Champaign, Urbana, and Mahomet could see locally heavy rainfall between 0.75 to 1 inch and wind gusts nearing 33 mph.
Drivers along Illinois Route 10 and I-72 should remain alert for ponding on roads and sudden gusts during commuting hours. Thunderstorm timing peaks after 1 a.m. Tuesday and again by early evening. Winds from the southeast at 14 to 20 mph may become strong during storms. NWS advises securing loose outdoor items and avoiding unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain.
