Lincoln, IL – A warm and breezy pattern will bring increasing storm chances across central Illinois this week, with severe weather possible midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid-80s through much of the week, well above seasonal averages.

Forecasters say thunderstorm chances will increase beginning Tuesday, with the potential for severe storms both Tuesday and Wednesday. The best chance for more widespread rainfall is expected on Wednesday, when storm coverage could become more extensive.

Daily rain chances continue into Thursday and Friday, though the risk for severe weather appears lower later in the week.

Breezy conditions are also expected throughout the period, contributing to changing weather conditions day to day.

Officials advise residents to stay weather-aware, especially during the midweek period when stronger storms may develop.

The timing of storms may impact commuters, outdoor workers, and students during afternoon and evening hours.
