Lincoln, IL – Residents of Central Illinois can expect scattered snow flurries overnight with little or no accumulation, according to the National Weather Service. The best chance of seeing measurable snowfall, around one-tenth of an inch or more, is north of Interstate 74.

Temperatures will dip into the teens tonight, creating conditions for patchy freezing fog. Roads may become slick, so drivers should remain cautious during early morning commutes. The weather service expects lows to rise to the 20s by Thursday morning as temperatures begin to warm.

Thursday’s high will reach 36 degrees, accompanied by mostly cloudy skies. Patchy freezing fog may linger into the morning but should dissipate by the afternoon. Another round of precipitation is likely late Friday night. Rain will dominate but could briefly transition to snow overnight.

The warming trend will continue into Friday and Saturday, with highs reaching the mid-30s. While the rain Friday night might mix with snow, significant accumulation is not anticipated. Forecasters predict mostly cloudy skies for the weekend, with lows dropping to 14 degrees by Saturday night.
