Central Illinois: Police Pursuit Ends as Suspect Crashes Into I-74 Ramp in Danville

Danville, IL – A high-speed chase that began in Indiana came to a crashing halt in Danville on Sunday when a fleeing vehicle struck a ramp while attempting to enter Interstate 74.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers joined the pursuit around noon Sunday after being contacted by the Warren County, Indiana, Sheriff’s Department. The suspect vehicle had crossed state lines into Illinois at speeds reportedly exceeding 100 mph.

The pursuit, which lasted approximately 10 minutes within Danville, moved eastbound along U.S. Route 150 before the suspect attempted to merge onto I-74 westbound at the 210-mile marker. Authorities said the vehicle crashed during the attempt, and the driver was taken into custody at the scene without reported injuries.

Officers from the Danville Police Department deployed stop sticks during the pursuit, while the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department provided additional assistance.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Trent J. Graves of Chicago, was booked at the Public Safety Building in Vermilion County. He faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, No Valid Driver’s License, and Obstructing/Resisting Peace Officers.

Authorities confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
