Lincoln, IL – A steady warming trend is expected across central Illinois through Saturday, pushing temperatures from the 50s into the 70s and potentially near 80 degrees by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, highs will climb from the 50s Wednesday into the mid to upper 60s Thursday as cloud cover decreases. The warming trend continues Friday, with temperatures reaching the mid-70s under partly sunny skies.
By Saturday, highs are forecast in the mid to upper 70s, with some locations approaching 80 degrees. Winds are expected to remain relatively light through the period, generally between 5 and 15 mph.
Rain chances will stay low through the weekend, with probabilities remaining below 15%, supporting mostly dry conditions across the region.
Overnight lows will also trend upward, starting in the mid to upper 30s tonight before rising into the 50s by the weekend.
The National Weather Service indicates this pattern reflects a broader warming trend across the Midwest, bringing more consistent springlike conditions after recent cooler weather.
The warm and dry stretch may benefit students, outdoor workers, and weekend travel plans as conditions improve heading into Saturday.
