Galesburg, IL – Dense fog is creating dangerous travel conditions across central Illinois early this morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday for Knox, Fulton, and Schuyler counties, including the cities of Galesburg, Canton, and Rushville.
Visibility in some locations has dropped to a quarter-mile or less, making it difficult for drivers to see the road ahead. Officials warn that the fog could cause hazardous conditions during the morning commute.
Motorists are urged to slow down, turn on headlights, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. The weather service also recommends avoiding sudden stops or lane changes, as fog can limit reaction time for other drivers.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve after sunrise, but residents planning early travel should allow for extra time and exercise caution until the advisory expires.
