Champaign, IL – Central Illinois residents are enjoying a stretch of warm, fall-perfect weather to start the week, but changes are coming by Wednesday. Temperatures will remain near 80°F through midweek before dipping into the mid-70s, offering an ideal few days for outdoor plans, from park strolls to late-season pumpkin patch visits.

According to the National Weather Service in Champaign, Columbus Day brings partly sunny skies and a high near 77°F, followed by another clear, mild evening. Tuesday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny conditions and a high near 80°F, with light northeast winds around 6 mph providing comfortable autumn air.

By Wednesday, a subtle cool front will shift winds out of the northeast, keeping highs near 75°F. The region stays dry through Thursday, but forecasters are watching for a 30% chance of showers moving in after midnight Thursday into Friday morning. Commuters along Interstate 74 and U.S. Route 45 may see light rain and slick conditions early Friday.

Friday looks mostly sunny again with a high near 80°F — perfect for weekend fall activities before another system brings light showers on Saturday and Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the pleasant weather for seasonal yardwork or outdoor decorating ahead of potential weekend rain.
