Central Illinois – Central Illinois residents should prepare for a week of severe weather and potential flooding, according to the US National Weather Service. Thunderstorm chances will persist through Thursday, bringing an attendant risk of severe weather and flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, the region faces a level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk tonight, continuing through Wednesday and Thursday. Residents are advised to stay weather aware and take necessary precautions.

A slow-moving frontal system will trigger multiple thunderstorms, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s. Tonight, severe weather risks include wind, hail, tornadoes, and floods, particularly after 9 p.m. Wednesday will see thunderstorms after 12 p.m., and the threat persists into Thursday. Temperatures will range from 82 to 93 degrees throughout the week.
