Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois residents will feel a sharp drop in temperatures this weekend as a strong cold front sweeps across the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Central Illinois.

Milder fall weather will come to a halt beginning tonight, with rain chances increasing ahead of the front. By Sunday and Monday, highs are expected to stay in the upper 30s to low 40s, marking the coldest stretch of the season so far.

Despite the chilly start to the week, a warming trend will take hold by Tuesday, with highs climbing into the 50s and 60s through the end of the week.

Forecasters encourage residents to prepare for colder mornings and possible frost before conditions moderate midweek.
