Peachtree City, GA – A scorching day is ahead for Georgia as a Heat Advisory is in effect for central and eastern parts of the state. Residents are warned to prepare for heat index values exceeding 105°F, with maximum temperatures expected to reach the mid to upper 90s.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM today. The agency emphasizes that the extreme heat poses a significant risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for the medically vulnerable. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities, and ensure pets have access to shade and water.
In addition to the heat, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly in far north and eastern Georgia. The storms are expected to develop primarily between 2 PM and 9 PM. According to the National Weather Service, these storms could bring damaging wind gusts, locally heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning.
