Orlando, Fla. – Central Florida residents face another stretch of stormy afternoons this week, with rain chances holding between 70% and 80% and the risk of flooding on roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, storms will peak during the afternoon and evening hours, producing gusty winds near 40 mph and frequent lightning. Rain totals could reach 1 to 3 inches daily, with isolated areas seeing higher amounts, leading to nuisance flooding in low-lying and urban neighborhoods.

Daytona Beach, Melbourne, and Vero Beach all carry an 80% chance of storms through Wednesday, while Orlando and Leesburg remain closer to 70%. Forecasters warn that ponding on roads, filled swales, and brief travel delays are possible, especially during the evening commute.

The slow-moving nature of these storms raises concerns for repeat downpours in the same spots, which may worsen localized flooding. Officials urge drivers not to attempt driving through water-covered roads and advise residents to charge devices in case of power outages from lightning or wind damage.

The storm pattern shows little change until late week, with conditions expected to improve by Thursday.
