Orlando, FL – A Heat Advisory remains in effect across much of East Central Florida today, with dangerous heat indices reaching up to 110°F in some areas. High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s, especially in cities like Orlando and Kissimmee.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat index – the apparent temperature when humidity is factored in – will make it feel like triple-digit temperatures across the region. Affected areas include Lake, Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Okeechobee, and Brevard counties. Residents are urged to take precautions such as staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
City-specific forecasts show temperatures will reach 97°F in Orlando and Kissimmee, with rain chances between 20-30%. Daytona Beach and Vero Beach will see a bit cooler temps around 92°F, with lower rain chances. The risk of rip currents remains moderate for beachgoers, making swimming conditions hazardous along the coast from Daytona Beach to Port St. Lucie.
With temperatures continuing to soar, experts recommend staying indoors as much as possible and using air conditioning to stay cool. Those who must be outside should limit their exposure to the sun and take frequent breaks in shaded areas.
This heat advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. today, and temperatures are not expected to cool significantly until late evening.
