Santa Barbara, CA – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. PDT this morning across portions of the Central Coast and Santa Ynez Valley, where visibility has dropped to one-quarter mile or less, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Los Angeles/Oxnard.
The advisory includes Santa Barbara County’s Central Coast beaches and inland valleys, the Santa Ynez Valley, and the Southern Salinas Valley, impacting travel near Lompoc, Santa Maria, Paso Robles, Atascadero, Solvang, and Lake Cachuma.
“Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra space between vehicles. Dense fog has been reported along Highway 101 and other coastal routes, reducing visibility for early-morning travelers.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve after 9 a.m., as daytime heating and light winds help dissipate the fog. Drivers should remain alert for patchy fog and slick roads through midmorning.
