SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A stretch of triple-digit heat continues across the Sacramento region Friday with temperatures climbing above 100 degrees through Saturday evening, raising risks of heat-related illness for anyone spending extended time outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday as Sacramento and surrounding Central Valley cities see highs between 100 and 101 degrees. Nighttime lows in the mid-60s will offer little relief.

The prolonged heat could impact outdoor workers, seniors, and those without reliable air conditioning. Sacramento County health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity in the afternoon, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers remain open throughout the metro area.

Drivers are also advised to take precautions, as hot pavement increases tire blowout risks and can be hazardous for pets. Utility demand is expected to climb as residents crank up air conditioning, which may stress the regional power grid.

Relief arrives gradually Sunday with highs dipping to the upper 90s, though daytime heat will remain above seasonal averages well into next week.
